Journey Through 3 Generations- The Long Family

Camp has been a part of my life since I was born. I had the opportunity to spend several summers attending Family Camp along with countless weekend trips staying at the campground. My grandparents were very involved with Camp Hebron when it was just starting and passed their love for camp on to my father and eventually myself.

I spent four summers on summer staff and was able to grow as a person significantly over that time. Meeting families and others that shared the same values in life as I was something that made Camp feel like home. The friendships I formed over those summers are some of the best I’ve ever had. I also met the woman who was to become my wife while serving on staff. I’ve seen and lived the impact Camp Hebron can have on a young life in their faith walk. Witnessing campers hear of Christ for the first time is a gift that I will never take for granted.

Camp is a place for everyone to grow in their relationship with God, nature and each other. In a world and time that is so focused on self, I feel it is very important to have places like Camp Hebron where people can take sanctuary from the pressures of the world and refocus on the things that truly matter. It’s my desire to see Camp Hebron thrive so that generations of families and young people can experience the life changing impact that has been so vital in my own life.

Like for many of us, life at Camp has been financially difficult over the years. It’s through the generosity of others that Camp is able to make these amazing experiences for young people each year. Would you consider giving a financial gift during the Extraordinary Give event so that Camp can continue its mission to spread the Gospel to as many people as possible?

Thank you to all who are reading this and to all that I’ve had the privilege of knowing through my time at Camp Hebron. Let’s continue spreading God’s love and kindness in everything we say and do!
