Adventure Education

“[Adventure Education is] a branch of outdoor education concerned with facilitating both intrapersonal and interpersonal development among program participants” (Martin et al., 2017)

Camp Hebron’s adventure program is primarily developmental, meaning we see adventure as a tool to aid in the growth of our guests. Our adventure education programming strives to live out the mission of Camp Hebron: “To cultivate a sanctuary where people connect with God, nature and each other.” We do this through intentionally  designing each experience with specific guest goals in mind. We boast a robust adventure program ranging from on-site experiences on our climbing wall or challenge course to epic off-site canoeing, caving, and rock climbing trips. We offer something for everyone, from our one to three hour workshops to our nine month Guide Program.

  • Looking for a way to build group unity, increase leadership, and have fun? We offer a variety of programs ranging from 2 hours to a full day of adventure activities. Our trained specialists will ensure that you have a safe, challenging, and enjoyable experience. From youth groups to corporate retreats, we have experiences for a wide range of ages and backgrounds.

  • Although we can facilitate activities in varying weather conditions (i.e. high and low temperatures, rain, snow, etc.) adverse weather can affect the group and/or the event in such a way that would deem it unsafe to continue. We may be able to modify your experience and move indoors during inclement weather. Decisions to cancel an event will be made with the group leader and we will do our best to accommodate your group. Please encourage participants to be prepared for the appropriate season.

    • Seasonally appropriate clothing (pants/sweatshirt in cooler weather)

    • Rain gear (top and bottom recommended)

    • Closed-toe shoes or boots (sandals are not appropriate)

    • Ensure shorts are mid-thigh or longer for harness safety

    • Hat/gloves and extra layer in the cold months

    • Avoid cotton due to lack of insulating ability when wet

    • Please consider modesty when dressing

    • Full water bottle

    • Consider a snack depending on duration of the experience
