You Never Know How You Will End Up at Camp!

I was first introduced to Camp Hebron in February 2021 at the Annual Women’s Retreat. A friend of mine was leading worship for the retreat and invited me to join her. At the retreat, I met Megan McMaster, the Program Director at Camp Hebron and exchanged contact information with her. At the beginning of Summer 2021, I was looking for a job, so I applied at Camp as a Day Camp Counselor and instead became the Assistant Day Camp Director. After summer ended, I joined the year-round staff as Program Ministry Assistant. Throughout the year in that role, I was given the opportunity to organize and run youth retreats, recruit summer staff at various colleges and universities, and so many other things.

Summer 2022, I stepped into the role of Day Camp Director and found it to be one of the most challenging AND fulfilling roles that I’ve ever had the opportunity to take on. Through the Day Camp Program at Camp Hebron, we have several campers who attend for four or more weeks of camp. As Day Camp Staff, we have the unique opportunity to develop relationships with these campers and invest in their lives for multiple weeks throughout the duration of the summer. This past summer, 2023, I had the opportunity to be Day Camp Director for the second year in a row. Since this was my second year as Director, I was able to reconnect with campers that were campers from the last two years at Day Camp. Day Camp is different from overnight camps in the way that they attend multiple weeks at a time and are able to be with some of the same staff/counselors from week to week.

Currently, I am part of the year-round staff as part of the Marketing Department and as the Social Media Coordinator. Camp Hebron has allowed me to push myself professionally and personally in the various roles that I’ve had the opportunity to hold. -Aryanna Boyer (AJ)
