Why Work on Summer Staff at Camp Hebron?

By Katie Fedor (Summer Staffer)

Camp Hebron is like my second home. I was a camper there for six years before becoming a part of the summer staff. I was very hesitant and very nervous about my first year on staff. It was a full summer commitment away from home and with many people I didn’t know. But I absolutely loved my years there as a camper and I always dreamed of working there on staff.

A feeling of comfort, of silliness, of acceptance, of joy. It is a place filled entirely with Christ.

The four years that I have been a part of camp's summer staff have been the best and most rewarding summers of my life. I have endless memories that I will hold on to forever. The atmosphere at camp is almost impossible to explain in words. It is a feeling I get when I drive down Camp Hebron Road. A feeling of comfort, of silliness, of acceptance, of joy. It is a place filled entirely with Christ.

The staff I have worked with are absolutely amazing, compassionate people. I have met lifelong friends at camp. Camp is a place where you are able to share your love of Christ with others.  And you get to work outside every day surrounded by nature.  I was able to do what my counselors did for me and show campers who God is and what life lived for Christ looks like.

I gave my life to Christ at Camp Hebron when I was a camper. The atmosphere, the staff, the joy that I was constantly surrounded by had a huge impact on me. I worked at Camp Hebron because I wanted to impact kids’ lives. I wanted to show them a glimpse of what a life for Christ looks like. Camp technically was a “job”/“workplace,” but it was more like one big family hanging out together.
