From Counselor to Alumni - Meet Felecia Goodman

Camp Hebron will always hold a special place in my heart.  I didn’t fully understand what I was signing up for when I applied to be a camp counselor in 2008.  Truthfully, I had never been to camp, but a college friend encouraged me to apply.  So I did.

I had no idea what to expect, but I felt God was calling me to this place.  Over the course of the next three summers I was given the opportunity to work with campers of all ages.  There were many games of gold rush, trips up Peters Mountain, and camp outs under the stars, but what I remember most when I reflect on my time at camp was the incredible sense of calm and security I felt there.     Camp Hebron gave me a safe place to heal and grow.  The more I poured into my campers and fellow staffers, the more pieces of myself I got back.

It has been almost 15 years since my time on staff, yet I continue to support Camp Hebron to ensure that future campers and staff members are given the same chance to connect with God, themselves and nature.  I do not know where I would be without my time at camp. I’m so thankful that it is a part of my story.

The three summers I spent as a summer staffer changed my life.   When I look back at my time at camp I am so thankful that God led me to the place.   It’s not only a place where I served campers,  but it’s also a place where I found myself.
