The Power of Camp -Kat's Journey to Camp Hebron

My name is Kat Clark and I am the Volunteer Ministry Coordinator at Camp Hebron. When I was in college, a friend of mine was planning on working at a summer camp in Colorado and encouraged me to apply. I did and that is where I fell in love with camp life. The next 2 summers I worked at a camp in Ohio and after that, some day camps over the summer in Harrisburg area.

In 2014 I finally landed a job as an elementary teacher in Harrisburg city. I loved my job and felt like that is exactly where God needed me to be for that season. A few years later, I felt called back to work in camp ministry in the summers since I had the time off. I worked at a camp in Lancaster for 2 summers before applying to work here at Camp Hebron as the Women's Director. I got hired and came here to meet some of the staff I would be working with, and from the moment I drove onto the property and got out of my car, I could just feel that this place was different. I loved serving as the Women's Director and discovering my love for working with college students.

I also felt like God was speaking to me and telling me that it was my last year teaching in Harrisburg. I wanted to lean into that obedience, but that meant that I didn't know what God had planned for me come August of 2022. I reached out to the program director in early December and expressed my interest in working again the next summer, but unsure of my role because I still didn't know where I would be working this fall and needed time to figure it out. She got back to me and told me to pray about a full time opening that there was here. As I read the description, I just kept hearing, "it was made for you." I applied and interviewed for the position, but there was still a great fear in leaving the job and career that I have spent nearly 10 years getting good it. A bigger part of me knew that this was exactly where I was supposed to be. I still needed to finish out the school year and my Master's degree however, and God made a way for that too. He provided in so many ways for this transition to be as smooth as possible and that was further confirmation that this is exactly where I am supposed to be. God is so good and so faithful and when we are willing to put our trust in Him, He can take our dreams further than we could ever imagine and use it all for His glory.
