A Life Well Lived and a Family Created

A life well lived and a family that found its' beginnings at Camp Hebron. Janet Longenecker was a summer staffer back in 1985 when she met her husband Daryl, summer staffer.

On a recent visit back to Camp Hebron, Daryl climbed the 1.2-mile trek up Peter’s Mountain to Table Rock, just like Janet and he did back in the day. Along the way, he reminisced of good times and the love connection they developed from that moment on. Upon his departure from camp, Daryl left this note behind for us to remember her legacy.

“Janet & I were on summer staff back in 1985. I met her here at camp and in 1986 we were married. After 33 years of marriage she passed away peacefully in February of this year. This overnight stay was in honor/memory of us. This overnight stay was healing in many sorts of ways. Just remember none of us know the impact we have on each others’ lives Comfort and peace is mine and yours also, -Daryl

We are grateful for the many relationships that commenced at Camp Hebron and we are always happy to hear about the impact it has had on the lives of so many. Life is fleeting and we are only promised today. Thank you Daryl for sharing your story with us and we hope to see you again. Janet faithfully served our Lord Jesus Christ until the end.
