Family Camp: Shalom

June 14-19, 2026

A family vacation designed to connect your family with God, nature and each other

What is Family Camp: Shalom?

Camp Hebron has a long-standing tradition of offering family camp experiences, along with more than 20 years of Shalom programming for adults with developmental disabilities. Family Camp: Shalom brings these two passions together in a unique program designed for families who have loved ones of any age with developmental disabilities. This week provides a welcoming space where families can relax, play, and enjoy camp together while knowing their needs are understood and embraced.

Throughout the week, families will connect with others who share similar lived experiences, finding encouragement, support, and new friendships. Days are filled with opportunities to grow in faith through worship, teaching, and fellowship, alongside fun activities and restful moments in nature. As Camp Hebron’s newest program, Family Camp: Shalom offers a Christ-centered environment where families can build lasting memories, deepen their faith, and experience the joy of being part of a caring community.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes. We can accept payments from other organizations after camp. Please, let us know if this is applicable for your camper and if you need a specific type of invoice.

You'll still need to submit your $50 deposit when you register. We can refund the $50, assuming the cost of camp is paid-in-full by another organization.

Financial assistance is available for Family Camp: Shalom too.

  • Typically, we try to keep a small camper to counselor ratio for our campers with disabilities. Ideally, there are 2 or 3 campers with every 1 counselor.

Our counselors aren't trained professionals. Rather, they are young adults who are willing and ready to serve and connect with your camper.

We will have other Camp Hebron staff members present to connect with families, facilitate activities, and support Family Camp: Shalom in other ways.

  • We will have a nurse on-site to serve alongside Family Camp: Shalom. However, all med. administration should be taken care of by individuals and families.

Our nurse will be able to provide support as needed.

  • Great question! The best first step is to complete the online application, which helps our staff get to know your family and thoughtfully discern how we can best accommodate and serve your specific needs.

If you have any questions or concerns, we warmly invite you to reach out to us directly. We would be happy to talk through your situation and help you determine whether Family Camp: Shalom is a good fit. You’re also welcome to schedule a tour to meet our staff and see our facilities in person. Please note that our facilities are older and may present challenges for families with significant physical limitations.

As this is a new program, it will continue to grow and develop over time. We are committed to learning alongside participating families and ask for grace as we refine and strengthen the experience in the years ahead. It is truly our joy to see new and unexpected relationships form through programs like this.

  • Each day at Family Camp: Shalom is designed with a thoughtful balance of fun, play, and rest. Families are invited to participate in as much or as little as they’d like—this is your week, and you’re welcome to choose the activities that best serve your family.

Mornings begin with community groups. Children participate in VBS-style activities and Bible teaching that are age- and developmentally appropriate, led by Camp Hebron staff. Kids remain close by and are cared for in safe, engaging environments, while adults gather for a session with the camp pastor for encouragement and connection.

Afternoons are filled with optional free-time activities such as games, sports, swimming, boating, crafts, and more—plenty of opportunities for both structured fun and relaxed family time.

Each evening, families come back together for family devotions, including worship and a Bible lesson designed for all ages to engage in together.

Nighttime brings full-camp activities that build joy and shared memories—think talent shows, dance parties, slip ’n slides, carnivals, and other high-energy fun.

Throughout the week, there are also intentional spaces and special programming for parents and for typical siblings to connect with others in similar roles, build relationships, and enjoy meaningful time together.

Our family always enjoys the time spent at Camp Hebron. The staff is amazing and love the way they connect with families. It’s been a positive experience and we plan to return next year!
