Wrangler-in-Training Weekend

Do you love horses and want to grow in responsibility, leadership, and horsemanship? Our Wrangler-in-Training (WIT) program is designed for teens, ages 14+, who are interested in volunteering at the stables during the summer and throughout the year, with the potential to grow into a future Wrangler role.

WIT Weekend serves as a group interview and training experience where participants can get to know our equestrian team, learn about the expectations of the program, and demonstrate their interest in serving at the stables.

During the WIT program, participants learn to support the daily operations of the barn while helping create a safe and positive environment for campers. WITs are expected to follow the procedures outlined in the Wrangler Manual and serve as role models for younger campers.

What WITs Help With:

Wranglers-in-Training gain hands-on experience assisting with many aspects of the equestrian program, including:

  • Horse feedings and basic care

  • General barn chores

  • Preparing horses and equipment for trails and lessons

  • Assisting with trail rides

  • Setting a positive example for campers

  • Helping with demonstrations and hand-led rides

  • Assisting with mounted and unmounted lessons

  • Supporting staff with camper supervision at the stables

  • Connecting with and investing in campers when not directly serving at the barn

Why Participate?

WIT Weekend is a great opportunity to:

  • Grow in horsemanship and responsibility

  • Learn how our equestrian program operates

  • Get to know our wrangler team

  • Explore the possibility of volunteering at the stables during the summer or throughout the year

How to Apply

All prospective WITs must register for WIT Weekend through our registration portal under the Summer (Year) season. Adults must register their teens for the program and fill out the required forms associated.

The WIT application is included in the registration forms and must be completed by each applicant as part of the registration process.

If you’re excited about horses and eager to serve, learn, and lead, we’d love for you to join us for WIT Weekend!
