Women of Wilderness & Worship

Women of Wilderness & Worship was a new camp offered this summer to young ladies entering 8th-12th grade. During this adventure-packed week, teen girls cooked over an open fire and experience primitive camping on a 13-mile overnight backpacking hike.

For teenagers living in a world of Snap Chat, Instagram, FB, Twitter, emoji and abbreviations like LOL, TTYL, IDEK, NP, K, and TY, "WWW" offered something completely different. At WWW, participants experienced whittling, canoeing, high ropes, hiking, camping, archery and more. Specialty camps like WWW help young people unplug from technology and address a societal need to get teens off the couch. Teens learn what it means to live in community, and often gain a new appreciation for nature.

For campers like Paige & Jeana Lower, 14 year-old twin sisters, WWW was an opportunity to experience overnight camp for the very first time.

"My wilderness, worship and women (aka wub-wubs) Camp Hebron experience was incredible! The week was filled with outdoor activities, prayer, and best of all, friendships," says Jeana.

"My camp leader, Elizabeth Hess, showed me that it doesn't have to be a challenge to worship our Creator, Jesus Christ. In everything we did at camp, we exemplified the Holy Spirit! My favorite parts of the week were archery and going canoeing . I also loved making our own food over a campfire. I can't wait to go back again next year!"

This fun and intensive week was a time for young women to experience what it really means to be a woman after God’s heart. As Paige expressed, "The 3W (Women of Wilderness & Worship) Camp was really fun. All of the leaders and counselors were very kind and they were very Godly people. We had a lot of exciting activities, and I really enjoyed the archery and the high-ropes sessions. Next year, I hope we have more campers so we can do more activities. Overall, it was a great experience and I hope to do it again next year."
