Volunteer Opportunities

Camp Hebron has been blessed by the commitment and experience of many volunteers over the years. The early staff was completely volunteer. This tradition continues as camp provides many opportunities to serve and receive the blessing of giving to others. These opportunities include but are not limited to assisting in the kitchen, assisting with housekeeping, answering phones, stuffing and addressing envelopes for mailings, cutting firewood, writing grants and clerking in the gift shop. Julie Braun, volunteer coordinator would love to talk with you about your interest and help find the perfect volunteer opportunity at Camp.

Ongoing volunteer opportunities include:

Gift Shop Manager (average 5-8 hours per week, more in summer, less in winter)
Office Assistant (one morning per week, answer phones, file, etc.)
Food Service (help with food prep and clean up, usually Saturday and Sunday)
Gift Shop Clerk (1 Saturday/month, 2-3 hours)
Maintenance (skilled or unskilled, help with grounds, cut firewood, upkeep of buildings, etc. - see list below)
Housekeeping (help with fast turnovers, deep cleaning projects, etc.)
Program (help with mailings, or if you have specific skills you would like to offer (puppeteer, craft instructor, nature instructor, etc., please contact us.)

Scrub off algae and stain deck at Sylvan View

2.

Enhance play area outside Sylvan View: stain benches, remove leaves, mulch

3.

Mulch around buildings/flower beds (seasonal)

4.

Re-paint letters on directional signs around camp

5.

Clean up fallen trees and logs in the woods around Breezewood and the cabin loops

6.

Mulch trails and beds throughout Camp, reinforce erosion controls on trails (cross drains)

7.

Clean and paint front of office

8.

Sweep and wash side entrances to Sylvan View (annual)

9.

Enhance Breezewood yard: Open tree canopy; Place plantings in raised railroad ties

10.

Replace tetherball court at Breezewood and add one in Sylvan area

11.

Block pointing along the low wall at the back of Pine Lodge

12.

Clean mold off underside of roof of Pine Lodge

13.

Fix picnic tables & fire circle benches throughout camp, especially at the lake

14.

Repair water wheel at stream behind Sylvan

15.

Guest map at entrance that identifies groups and helps them find lodging/registration

16.

Spring cleaning of all major buildings

17.

Adopt and maintain a flower bed

18.

Paint swing and merry-go-round at campground

19.

Clean rust from chains on swing set near Sylvan View

20.

Resurface Tennis Courts ($7,000)

21.

Remove A-frame chapel (may keep salvageable materials)

22.

Update outdoor group sign (between baseball fields/driveway to Sylvan)

23.

Paint meeting rooms in Sylvan View

24.

Update lighting in meeting rooms in Sylvan View (Electrician)

25.

Clean/fix-up/paint golf carts

26.

Refinish Fern Glade living room floor

27.

Build GauGau pits at Breezewood and Sylvan View
