A family vacation that is fun, relaxing and affordable with options to grow together as a family and to grow spiritually. Keep busy or just take the time to relax. Morning activities and Bible lessons for children of all ages led by camp counselors and adult teaching times led by a camp pastor. Afternoon options of swimming, boating, horseback rides, tennis, volleyball, softball, canoe trips, hikes, or just relaxing. Evenings regularly include theme parties, games and vespers for the whole family. An atmosphere of Christian fellowship and friendship pervades all activities.

These family camps are designed to provide a time of rest, relaxation, recreation, and spiritual growth for the family. Families lodge together or in adjacent rooms, cabins, or the campground (depending on which week you choose to attend), and camp takes care of all the cooking and cleaning. Use of camp facilities, daily games/activities, daily worship and Bible study, child care, and special activities are just some of the things that fill the day. All Family Camps provide lodging in motel-style, air-conditioned Sylvan View Retreat Center where linens are provided. Family Camp I has the option of being housed in our Breezewood Cabins. Family Camps II, III, IV, and V offer a Campground option.

Family Camp Registration Policy

Due to the high number of advance registrations for our various family-based camps, we are using the following guidelines for future registration for all camps listed under Family Camps. Campers currently registered may register for the following year's Family Camp during their current Family Camp week. All other registrants may register for the following year's Family Camps on the first Monday following last day of the specific camp for which they are registering. If the week you have chosen is full, you may request that your name be placed on a waiting list and we will contact you when your name gets to the top of the list. Please call (717-896-3441 or 800-864-7747) to confirm the facility you wish to stay in is available before registering. A $100 nonrefundable, nontransferable deposit per room is required at the time of registration. One half of remaining total is due by February 1. The balance is due by April 1. Registrations for Family Camps or Moms-n-Tots are NON-REFUNDABLE except in the case of a documented Medical Emergency. A printable registration form is available for your convenience.

Family Camp Pastor: John & Cindy King

Bio: John has been the young adult pastor at Mechanicsburg Brethren in Christ Church since 2003. He has also been an adjunct professor in the Psychology Department of Messiah College, although currently his pursuit of a Ph.D. at Regent University keeps him busy enough. Growing up in a musical family, John plays several instruments and is always trying to learn new ones.

Cindy, a former first grade teacher, is now a stay-at-home mom. Taxiing to all of the instrumental lessons alone keeps her very busy. Playing the violin is something she did from 2nd - 12th grade but never imagined she'd pick it up again when she had children. When given the luxury of free time, she enjoys sewing and reading.

John & Cindy are also the parents of seven children who all help make up “The King's Strings” – a family of musicians that enjoys putting smiles on the faces of its listeners. Since their debut in 2004, they have been bringing those smiles to retirement communities, birthday and anniversary celebrations, fund-raisers, company dinners, weddings, and more.  The family desires to be an encouragement and a blessing wherever they are and with whomever they come in contact, from event organizers to audience members.  This philosophy drives them whether they are playing a spontaneous concert for friends in the backyard or they are playing at a more public venue in places like New York or Florida.  They wish to see Jesus' glory shine through them and to be a light for Christ. Special Features: Partnering with Bethany Christian’s Post-adoption Services, Adoption topic discussions for parents, time to work on Family Lifebooks, BCS Staff on site for conversations. Elaine Shenk will be our resource from BCS.
