Challenge by Choice
Challenge Course
Looking for a way to build group unity, increase leadership, and have fun. Try one of our Adventure options for your group. We offer a variety of programs ranging from 2 hours to a full day of activity for ages 10 and up.
We strive to do the following through our challenge course and climbing activities:
- Increase the participant's sense of personal confidence.
The goal for many of the activities is to allow each individual to see themselves as increasingly capable and competent. By attempting and succeeding (or failing) in a graduated series of activities, which involve physical and/or emotional risk in a supportive group atmosphere, an individual may then begin to develop healthy self-esteem.
- To increase mutual support and unity in a group.
The activities are facilitated with the assumption that anyone who commits to try should be respected. Success and failure are less important than making an effort. In many cases the success or failure of the group depends in the efforts of all group members. A cooperative, supportive atmosphere lends to encouraged participation. The use of teams, points, and timed competition has been consciously minimized.
- To apply lessons learned to life and faith.
Group discussions will be facilitated throughout the experience to promote the group's ability to apply lessons to their lives and in their personal relationship with Jesus Christ. If your group is not a Christian group, we will adapt the discussions and applications accordingly.
| Cooperatives |
Group cooperatives are games and activities that primarily focus on cooperation, activity and fun. They can be presented in either an indoor or outdoor setting during a two-hour session. |
| Low Challenge Course |
Normally a half day session focused on team building, cooperation and communication. Your group will learn to know each other in a new way as well as increasing their ability to cooperate with one another. All activities are facilitated by our trained staff. We will use several of our ground elements to set up challenges for your group to complete.
|
| High Challenge Course |
This also involves the group, but is more of an individual effort as participants climb over 30 feet into the air and challenge themselves to walk across logs and cables. The high course consists of six elements that are connected with a zip line exit. Plenty of thrills and excitement for all who are involved. This activity is normally a half-day event. |
Operational Season The challenge course is available year-round. Winter months are limited by weather and summer dates (June 1 – mid-August) are available on a limited basis due to our summer camp schedule. The climbing wall is open year-round with limited summer availability. Contact us for more information on indoor low challenge course possibilities during the winter months. Booking your event
Events should be booked at least two weeks prior to date of arrival. We recommend you book a group visit at least ten weeks in advance of your intended date, since available dates fill up quickly. Although more than one group can utilize the challenge course or climbing wall at one time, group size is the key factor and we will be better able to accommodate your group with advance notice. For available dates contact the Adventure Program Specialist at Camp Hebron (800-864-7747). If the date is open for your group a challenge course/climbing wall Activity Agreement will be sent out to you and must be returned with a deposit to guarantee the date for your group.

Climbing Wall
Located in the Hemlock Gym, the wall is designed to create an experience where people can develop confidence and self-esteem and experience encouragement, support, trust and team work through an exciting challenge.
The climbing wall is a vertical wooden wall of varying angles with synthetic rock holds to simulate a natural rock-climbing surface. By attaching climbing holds of various sizes and shapes to the wall, we can vary the climbs, making each route unique and varied in the level of challenge. With six climbs on various pitches, there is a wide range of challenge available to your group. Participants must fit properly into an approved climbing harness which is provided by Camp Hebron.
Must be scheduled in advance with our Adventure Program Specialist (10 weeks notice is suggested). Minimum of 10 participants.
